Danga Bay is Johor Bahru’s waterfront playground on the Straits of Johor — best visited in the late afternoon for a sunset stroll, a seafood dinner and, since late May 2026, the new Danga Park for kids. It is a short Grab ride from KSL City Mall.

Most visitors tick off malls and food in the city centre and never make it to the sea. Danga Bay, about 7 km from the centre, is where JB families go for fresh air once the sun drops. Here is how to plan an easy evening there.

What is Danga Bay?

Danga Bay (Teluk Danga) is a large waterfront development of roughly 450 acres on the Straits of Johor, billed as the biggest recreational park in the city. It sits along Jalan Skudai and mixes a promenade, beach-side restaurants, a small mall and open lawns. It is a place for strolling, eating and people-watching rather than a single headline attraction.

What is the new Danga Park?

Danga Park JB opened in late May 2026 inside the Danga Bay area. Reports describe tiger- and octopus-themed play structures, gentler zones for toddlers, water-spray areas and an elevated ramp walkway that works for strollers and wheelchairs, with fountains and coloured lighting at night. It is aimed at children under 10, and under-7s need an adult with them. Opening hours and entry rules have been reported as different for Malaysians and foreign visitors, so confirm both on the day. It pairs well with our Johor Bahru with kids guide.

How do you get there from KSL?

Take a Grab — usually around 15 minutes from KSL City Mall depending on traffic, and a little longer at peak hour. Return Grabs from the waterfront can be busy late at night, so book your ride back early. Our getting around JB guide covers the options, and Grab prices in JB helps you budget.
