What should you sort out before you cross?

Set up your apps at home, not in the queue. Download Grab and check that your payment method works; guests tell us the app usually switches to ringgit on its own once you cross. If you plan to use Touch ’n Go eWallet, know that registration can need a Malaysian number and identity check, so do it in Singapore with a good connection, or simply carry a little cash for stalls that skip cards. How do you make the return trip painless?

Sunday is where most weekends go wrong. Our tip is to treat the trip home as part of the plan: have a late lunch near the flat, leave after the early-afternoon wave, or stay for dinner and cross after 10pm.
