Horizon Mall, a four-storey mall in Horizon Hills, Iskandar Puteri, opened on 3 September 2026 and is worth a day trip from Johor Bahru city if you are already heading west to LEGOLAND Malaysia or have small kids in tow.

As of 30 Sep 2026 it is still new: about 80% of the space was committed at opening, and Eatbook reports the full launch is set for late 2026. So think of it as a fresh neighbourhood mall that is still filling up, not a mega-mall like the ones in the city. Here is what we found from the opening coverage.

What is Horizon Mall and where is it?

It is the new retail heart of the Horizon Hills township on the Iskandar Puteri side of JB, on the west of the city. Per The Rakyat Post (4 Sep 2026) it has roughly 300,000 sq ft of gross floor area and 150,000 sq ft of net lettable area over four storeys. Eatbook (15 Sep 2026) puts it about a 10-minute drive from LEGOLAND Malaysia.

Is Horizon Mall worth the trip from KSL?

Honest pros: it is new, the kids’ play options are strong, and it is easy to pair with LEGOLAND on the same side of JB. Honest cons: it is not a shopping destination yet, so if you want big brands and a huge food court, our JB shopping guide and the SKS City Mall JBCC write-up will serve you better. It is also a cross-city trip, and we have not measured the drive from KSL, so check Grab for the current fare and time before you set off.

Who is it really for? Families with children under ten, LEGOLAND visitors who want a proper meal and a grocery stop afterwards, and anyone curious to see the new Horizon Hills township. If that is not you, you will not miss much by staying in the city, where the older malls have far more choice. Either way, treat the opening-month details above as a snapshot and re-check before you go.

How do you get there, and what about visitors from Singapore?

Most visitors will go by Grab or private car; check the fare in the app because JB traffic changes a lot by hour. If you are coming from Singapore, the Second Link is the western crossing into Johor, so on paper it suits this side of town, but confirm live traffic before you choose a checkpoint. If your day is really about the theme park, read our LEGOLAND Malaysia guide first, and if you are still deciding where to base yourself, see where to stay in Johor Bahru.
